The enterprise was founded by Willy Pelz in 1948 for the manufacture of cotton wool products for baby and beauty care.
The household and industrial foils and films range emerged in 1961 from the idea of selling our cotton wool products, not only in the standard cardboard box, but also in clear polythene bags, which would allow customers to assess the quality of products when they were still on the shelf.
In 1966, in cooperation with Procter & Gamble, the production of thermal bonded non-woven materials for nappies was begun, and was later supplemented with chemical bonded and spunlaced non-woven materials.
Our feminine hygiene range was developed in 1983 with the takeover of the brand name Cosmea® from Unilever and its production.
In 2004 Unilever granted Pelz an exclusive European licence for the brand Q-tips.
